About Us

The purpose of the proposed program is to establish the National inter-institutional Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence (CoE), to develop the first MA in European integration studies in Israel aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the European Union (EU) and its integration process, as well as the dynamics of European integration from a global perspective. This program builds on a unique pool of research and pedagogical expertise that has developed in field of EU studies and international relations on the European continent. The Open BGU JM CoE is a joint initiative between Ben Gurion University, the Open University of Israel, and the University of Jagiellonian in Krakow in order to achieve synergistic combination. The Open BGU CoE formalises links between two peripheral countries- to create a solid create a solid framework of academic debate, research and networking among professors, scholars, early career researchers and students of EU Studies, focusing on European integration studies. The overarching aim is to establish a new peripheral focal point of EU Studies and to promote academic dialogue in a systematic and coherent way. Open BGU CoE will intensify collaboration through a series of targeted activities. The MA program, to be developed by the Open BGU JM CoE will be offered through a combination of online and on-campus coursework, with a focus on interactive and experiential learning methods. It will be designed to accommodate the diverse needs and schedules of students, with flexible course offerings and the option to complete the program on a full-time or part-time basis. The curriculum will cover a range of topics related to European integration, including the history and development of the EU, its institutions and decision-making processes, the economic and political integration of member states, and the role of the EU in global affairs. The Open BGU JM CoE and its study program will also feature guest lectures and workshops by leading scholars and practitioners in the field, as well as opportunities for students to engage in the fieldwork, events, seminars, and research projects. The First MA Program for European Integration Studies in Israel will be the first of its kind in the country and is expected to attract a diverse group of students from across the region, including professionals looking to deepen their knowledge of the EU and its integration process, as well as recent graduates seeking to pursue careers in the field. Open BGU JM CoE activity will also involve the public, policymakers, and practitioners, in cultural and academic events, as well as in research activities and publications.
